Academic Integrity Policy

What this policy covers
nounstudy provides AI-powered study tools built on the course material the National Open University of Nigeria publishes for its students. They are here to help you understand what you are reading. This policy sets out what nounstudy will not do, what we ask of you in return, and what happens if that is broken. It applies to everyone with a nounstudy account.
What nounstudy will not do
There are three lines we do not cross.
- nounstudy does not write Tutor Marked Assignments and does not supply answers to them.
- nounstudy is not for use during an examination. Opening it in an examination hall is examination malpractice under the University’s regulations, and nothing on our side makes that acceptable.
- nounstudy does not hold or supply examination questions or their answers.
How the product is built around this
Every answer carries the page it was drawn from, and tapping that page number takes you to it. This is the central design decision in the product, and this policy is the reason for it. An answer is meant to send you back to your course material rather than stand in for it, and it gives you somewhere to check. Where an answer cannot be traced to a page in your course, you should not rely on it.
Practice tests are built from the unit you have been reading rather than from a stored bank of questions, so what they test is whether you understood the material, not whether you have seen the question before.
Reading is free on every plan, including the free one. The part of nounstudy where the learning happens is the part we do not charge for.
What we ask of you
- Use nounstudy to understand what you are reading, and write your own work in your own words.
- Do not copy an answer from nounstudy into a Tutor Marked Assignment. If you have understood something and can express it yourself, that is learning. Copying it across is not, and it is plagiarism under the University’s rules.
- Do not open nounstudy during an examination.
- Keep one account, and do not share your sign-in with anyone else.
What happens if this is broken
An account used for academic dishonesty can be banned. When that happens we record the reason, and you are shown it the next time you try to sign in. The reasons we use are:
- academic dishonesty
- breach of our terms
- holding multiple accounts
- fraud
A ban may run for a set period or it may not expire, depending on what happened.
Reporting something
If you know of an attempt to use nounstudy for academic misconduct, write to integrity@nounstudy.com. Tell us what you saw and where. Reports are treated confidentially.
The University’s rules come first
This policy governs your use of nounstudy. It does not replace the National Open University of Nigeria’s own academic regulations, which are what you are examined under. Where the two differ, follow the University.
