Reading In Early Chilhood And Primary Education

This course introduces undergraduates to the fundamentals of reading instruction, starting from the preschool level, to prepare them sufficiently to develop the reading skills of young children. It explores the importance of reading in language development and academic achievement of pre-schoolers. The course exposes students to the theories that underlie the choice of approaches, methods, techniques and instructional resources needed to develop the reading and academic skills of preschoolers and primary level pupils.
